My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: NJ
I am finally at the point of closing an estate account of my brother, just waiting on tax waivers. The next of kin (only beneficiaries) are myself & my older brother. 7 months into probate my older brother passed away from cancer & his share of the estate I was doing will now go to his daughter. My question is on making a disbursement; do I write the check to "estate of brothers name" or can it be written to her name. My thought is that it gets written to the "estate of" as his estate is still in probate & this would be "interest in a prior estate", is that correct?
