After the criminal side of things was done and over with, multiple people are being sued by a responding police officer for Assault and Battery, Punitive Damages, and Negligence. I'm not sure whether this is the right forum section or not, but it's considered Major Case - Jury Trial Demanded - Civil Action Complaint.
Why would one be sued for these charges if the police officer is under the clock and is covered by worker's compensation?
Could homeowner's cover this? I have sent them the civil action complaint papers, I'm almost certain they won't cover it - I have 20 days to respond.
I have consulted a lawyer that offered to do the case for a set amount off the bat, but no guarantees or even some possible outcomes were laid out to me.
Sorry I'm being vague, but I'm not even remotely sure of the extent of details I could post online.
Thanks much
