Chapter 13: Relocating While on Ch 13

mercredi 11 mars 2015

My question involves bankruptcy in the state of: Puerto Rico (a US territory which US federal bankruptcy laws apply)

I filed my bankruptcy 14 months ago under ch13 and got approved 4-5 months later. Unfortunately things at work have been unstable, lots of rumors of closure and they've been downsizing since two years ago or so. A few days ago I was told I was being considered for a new role in the company but in Miami, Fl. This would mean I would have to relocate which is a great opportunity but I have concerns with my bankruptcy case. I own a car that I'm still paying for the next 4 years and I can't take the car out of the island unless it's paid in full. Can I add this to my bankruptcy? I also have an apartment that basically owes same or a bit more that it's worth… other apartments aren't selling or they're having hard timing finding a tenant to rent. what are my options if any? Do I have to transfer my case to miami? Any information would be greatly appreciated… the lawyer that handled my case is traveling for the next few weeks and can't wait to know what to do.
