My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Florida.
In June my home was burglarized and my jewelry stolen. As a result of detailed inventory and receipts, several of my items were located in a pawn shop and traced back to me. Currently my suspect is in jail with charges pending and my property is being held by the pawn shop.
My question: the police told me the pawn shop had to sell back my property to me at the exact cost they paid the suspect as the pawn shop could not profit from the transaction. When I visited the pawn shop the amount I was quoted to purchase my items was significantly higher than the amount the police claim the pawn ticket indicated. When I asked the pawn shop employee to see the pawn ticket I was denied.
If the pawn shop cannot profit, is there something in writing that I can take with me to show as proof. I want my items back and since I have already been robbed, I really don't feel I should also have to buy back my property at a premium.
Thank you
