Termination: Never Actually Fired

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: New York

I left my job back in May to work a summer job but now that it is winding down I am on the job search for more permanent employment. The Job I left in May was not on necessarily good terms as I had a dispute with an assistant manager and left two weeks before I was planning to. It was work in a restaurant as a bartender/server, here is a recap of how I left

I came in on a Friday night for my shift, after a disagreement with said assistant manager he sent me home for arguing with him. The next morning I came in to work my scheduled shift, after being there for an hour and setting up the restaurant my General manager came in and sat me down to talk about the night before, since he was not working. After our discussion he told me he had to punish me and sent me home for that day as well. I was off the next three days so my next shift would of been Wednesday, but on Tuesday night my schedule was deleted from our online schedule program for the rest of the week. Since I was quitting in two weeks anyways I didn't bother going back.

Here is where my question is, since I was never actually terminated, legally how did I leave the job? Was I fired or did I quit? I ask because I know they are saying I've been terminated and I was under the impression they have to actually sit you down for that to be the case and with applying to new employment opportunities I want to know what to tell future employers.
