My question involves medical malpractice in the state of: New Jersey
I am not sure if this is malpractice or not so sorry if this is obviously not. I saw a new doctor for the first time a week ago for a prescription to Zubsolv. I provided my insurance information (UnitedHealthcare) on the first day. I was charged $120 on that day because they couldn't contact my insurance company. Through insurance I should be paying $25 for an office visit (which is the only amount I have ever paid before with other doctors). I go back today and she still tells me she has not heard back from insurance and charges me $100. I don't think I have the receipt for the first visit but I do for the second. I've already decided I am not going back but I want to know if this is legal for her to do? Like I said before I have gone to other doctors and this never happened at those locations. This doctor works out of a hole in the wall office and unfortunately I didn't have much of a choice when I went the first time and I did not realize it would happen again the second time.
Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.
