Parking Tickets: Parking in the Striped Area of a Handicapped Spot

samedi 21 février 2015

My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: Illinois

I received a ticket for parking in the striped area of a handicapped space. Violation Code LO-11-1301.3 (a)

The problem is, at the time I parked my car I could't see the stripes because they were covered in salt and it was dark out. The passenger that was with me at the time couldn't see the stripes either. In addition, there is no sign in front of the space to indicate this is handicapped parking. Here is a picture I took of the space with my phone. You can just barely see the stripes in the picture. Me and my passenger couldn't see them at all when we parked. Otherwise, we wouldn't have parked there.

What are my chances of successfully challenging this ticket?
