My question involves tenant-tenant law in the State of: Alaska
My husbands name is on the lease unfortunately. I wrote the check for the deposit but can get it back until our lease is over in September. My husband won't sign the lease over to me so I have to leave, but I can't without a deposit for another place. He also can't afford to pay rent on his own because I have been paying his bills for him as well so the lease will be broken. The landlord said the only thing she can do is sign the lease in my name but my husband would have to agree to it. That's not going to happen. Is there a legal way he has to pay me to replace the deposit? My landlord won't give it to me and have him pay another down, he can't afford it anyway. I feel stuck. Any advice would help please.
