My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: MO
The used car dealer whom I was buying a car thru took car to a mechanic. While on mechanics lot, according to the owner, someone "came by" was "waving paperwork" took keys and towed vehicle away. Mechanic can't identify who came by, was given no paperwork. I have filed a stolen car report with KCPD. The used car dealer is no longer in business, which isn't surprising as he kept stalling when I asked for title and never produced one. This case is complicated by the fact that the vehicle sat idle at dealer lot for months awaiting repairs he promised to do as per the sales agreement. It is thought he took my money and didn't give it to his "floor manager" (money man). It is also thought that this "money man" may have been the person who hooked the vehicle. A search of the VIN shows the name of the last owner (not the dealer or moneyman). I am thinking of making a claim against the mechanic ( a UHaul dealer). I don't have the title just the sales agreement.
Advice on unsnarling this situation would be appreciated
