My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Vermont
In January we had a house fire. We decided to go with a contractor who was on a list given by our insurance company. When it cam time in April to begin work, the contractor provided a contract that we were not happy with and he said he would re-write it. We paid him $30k to start and then another $20k some time into the job. We asked several times for a contract and were told he would have to work on it. We went our separate ways after it took 5 weeks longer than anticipated to finish part of the job. Now we have received a bill for an additional $21k...it did not state what for just "balance of repairs". What are our legal options?
