My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Yellowstone National Park
I am foreign student currently holding a F-1 student visa. When I was visiting one of the Geysers in Yellowstone NP , I cannot find any parking lots so I just parked my rental car under a tree (which is near a parking lot) since all other cars also parked near that tree. I thought everything is OK. However, later I got a ticket from a park ranger. He told me that I parked the car at a wrong place. The offense on my ticket reads: ""Stopping or parking in Roadway", and the offense was charged as 36 CFR 4.13 - Obstructing traffic. a) Stopping or parking a vehicle upon a park road, except as authorized by the superintendent, or in the event of an accident or other condition beyond the control of the operator..
I am very scared as I learnt this federal ticket is classified as Class B Misdemeanor, and I heard it may go to my criminal record (even if this is just a parking ticket).
I am living in AZ and it is quite infeasible for me to fly to Yellowstone to contest it. Therefore I decided to pay the fine. However, I do have following concerns, and I desperately need your help on clarifying them:
1) how serious the class B crime?
2) Will this go to my criminal record even after I pay the fine? As a foreign student, I am very concerned about 1)renewing my US visa, 2)finding a job in US, and 3)applying Greencard, etc. So will this ticket affect all of these? In other words, will a company deny my job application or will USCIS deny my greencard application because of this ticket? My US driving record is spotless in since day one. This is my first ticket.
Could anyone help me here?
Thank you very much for your time reading this and your help!!
