My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida.
I am 20 yrs old and I was arrested for retail theft. It is my first offence. I did it because I'm broke and needed things, I know its still no excuse. Anyway, I looked up if my county (Pinellas) had a Pre-Trial Diversion Program, and they do. I was just wondering how I should go about applying for the program. Should I get a lawyer? Should I take any action before my court date? There is just a lot of information I need because I know nothing about these sort of things and I don't ever want to be in this situation ever again.
