Traffic Accidents: At-Fault Accident - Red Light

jeudi 4 septembre 2014

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California

I was involved in an at-fault accident with minor injuries, luckily since both cars were totaled. I was told that I had ran a red light, even though i remember it being green, and a ticket was issued for the red light in the mail. I pulled the police report and it said the lady had a suspended license and I was deemed at fault due to the evidence found. It also says they issued me a ticket for VC 21453 (a).

I have two questions;

1. I know the insurance will ding me as 3 points, one for the accident, one for the injury and one for the ticket. What will DMV ding me with? Would it be the same? I tried to research and it seems like it would be 2, one for the accident/injury and the other for the ticket. The reason why I know their was injury is because the lawyer called me the next day from the other party. Everyone walked away but I guess they are experiencing headaches, etc.

2. Is it worth fighting the ticket since the lady had a suspended license? I know they said I was at-fault but why wasnt she cited for a suspended license?
