My question involves criminal law for the state of: New York
I'm 14 years old. Just the other day I was caught "shoplifting" in H&M on 125th Street. I took bangles and earrings that were on sale because I only had 5 cents and I was trying to get it for my mother for Christmas. The items were probably up to 7 to 10 dollars all together. The Lp, who was an undercover investigator, took me and my friends up stairs to her office. She was really generous and did not call the cops. However, they made us sign a paper and write my address and name on it. They also took our picture and said that we were banned from all H&Ms. Is this true? If so, since this was my only time shoplifting, could I do something to take away the trespassing ban. I feel so stupid and irresponsible and I will never do this again. Can anyone help me? Thanks
