My question involves criminal law for the state of: Oklahoma
My friend has been in jail for a year awaiting trial. She's had a criminal defense attorney we hired since she was arrested, but the attorney in question ran for a local judge post and won. He informed us that after the first of the year he will no longer be a criminal defense lawyer, and would like to pass the case off to an associate of his.
After the meeting last month in which we agreed to let his associate handle the case we haven't heard a word, and are getting worried! The trial is Jan. 19 and we haven't even met the new lawyer; he hasn't gone to the jail to see her and our call to her former lawyers office was not returned yet. Is this normal? Do we need to think about hiring a new attorney?
