Background Checks: Warrant Out of Nevada, Living in Texas

jeudi 5 février 2015

My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Nevada

So in March of 2013, I was arrested for domestic violence (1st degree) in Nevada. I went to my first court date (I was still in jail) and then was released. Arraignment was in April. It was continued for one week, and I missed the court date since I had an emergency and had to leave town. Which of course got a bench warrant sent out. I went to the court the day I got back, bench warrant dropped. I had a non jury trial set up for June, and my public defender did not get back in contact with me after the first phone call. So when I went to court I technically didn't have a public defender and it was rescheduled for August. My sentence was suspended. I was supposed to do 25 hours community service and 2 months of AA (which was crap, since I wasn't the one drunk in the altercation).

I was supposed to reappear in court in October, but didn't since I was living out of state And didn't have a way back.

In December I got pulled over while back in Nevada as I was moving my stuff to Texas (whole truck was packed, we were literally 5 minutes from being out of Nevada), got arrested, spent a few days in jail, and was given until mid January to get my 25 hours and at least some of the AA meetings done. Also, I wasn't informed of this, but on my record it shows I was also charged with obstructing an officer.

Since I moved to Texas, I didn't show up for court again... I Know I know!

I still have a bench warrant in Nevada dating back to Jan 16th 2014. I have since made myself a better person. Conquered my addiction and completed a year of colege with decent grades. I need to find a job in order to support my 2 kids. I have been interviewed, and been honest on my applications and I keep getting turned down.

How can I possibly find employment when I get turned down as soon as that background check?

I really want to keep improving my family's life, but can't seem to get a job. I also have absolutely no way back to Nevada.

I need help please!
