Unemployment Benefits: I Think I Might Have Said Too Much to EDD Interviewer and Have Been Denied Benifits

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California

Hello,

I was employed at a small company for 1 year and 7 months. I only had one informal meeting with my manager regarding a complaint of a co-worker against me back in 10/2013 that was resolved. I was never asked to sign anything or warned that my job might be in jeopardy. I was fired by my manager on Jan 18th and was only given the reason that I "wasn't a good fit". I was surprised and ask him to elaborate but he would tell me no more. I filed for UI the same day.

After termination I requested a copy of my personnel file. My file contained three summaries of complaints from my co-workers - all dated the week before I was let go. There was one person in particular that I was having trouble with (I think she rallied the others to complain about me) and I did email my manager a week before I was let go stating my concerns but he never spoke with me or attempted to try to resolve any conflict except for terminating me.

I had my phone interview with ED on 2/5. I explained to the interviewer that I was terminated for "not being a good fit" and that I never received any warnings or was ever written up. The interviewer kept pressing me for more information, and I should have kept my mouth shut but I instead told her of the problem with the co-worker a year ago and how I thought that was resolved as well as my problem with the other co-corker. She even asked for the names of the co-workers I was having conflict with. She then said they would investigate and I should hear back in 10 days.

As of today, it's been 15 days and the only thing I received was another claim form for the next two weeks. I called today and the automated system said that no benefits have been processed as of today. I've tried getting to a live person at EDD but it seems to be impossible - after 5 minutes of pressing buttons and listening to the automated voice it just says "Due to the high volume of calls, blah blah blah... Goodbye!".

This is very unnerving and now I'm thinking that I was denied and would need to file an appeal.

Any insight or suggestions?

Thanks in advance
