My question involves real estate located in the State of: Texas
The mortgage company we are using which is based in Ohio (we found it online) wants us to sign a Borrower's Certification & Authorization which names a title company I've never heard of in several places. I told the loan officer that we want to use a local title company our realtor uses, but the loan officer said it doesn't really matter what title company is listed on this form. We will still get to use the title company listed on closing documents. This form looks like it gives this other title and closing company the right to "act as the settlement agency and/or title insurance agency for the transaction". It also seems to give this title and closing company access to my personal information. Should I sign it like he's insisting or start from scratch with a different mortgage company? I know the form is required for a mortgage, but I don't understand why they listed this other title company that I've never heard of under the Authorization to Release Information section.
