Classification of Workers: Taxi Driver Misclassified As an Independent Contractor

My question involves independent contractors in the state of: Arizona

I am a taxi driver in Phoenix, AZ. I recently lost my job when the company I worked for went out of business. I have filed for unemployment, but I know I will be denied because all the drivers were carried on the books as Independent Contractors, we signed contractor agreements. However, my research has shown that I may still actually be an employee. My employer strictly controlled our operations. We had scheduled hours and were expected to call in if sick or late. We could be fired at any time for any reason. We used company vehicles which were maintained by the company. We bought our own gas. While we could reject fare offers from the dispatcher, we were not allowed to have personal calls. The owner considered this stealing from the company and those caught doing so would be fired. All requests for taxi service were required to go through the dispatcher. I understand the courts are considering the degree of control companies exercise over the workers, but I have not been able to find any Arizona case law online. Thoughts?
