Debt Collectors: Third Party Still Reporting Even when Original Debt Has Been Removed by Creditor

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Virginia



Hello,



I originally owed a debt to HSBC. HSBC removed the debt from all my credit reports but there is a third party reporting it. They are called LVNV Funding. I sent a letter to the credit agencies to verify the debt and they sent me a letter saying it was valid.



Is there a way to get this removed?



On my credit report it says that it was purchased 9/1/2011 but that debt is from 2008 I believe.



I've never dealt with third party collection agencies before. Any advice would be great. Just what my chances are of getting this removed.



It's old and I don't have any documentation on the debt.
