My question involves criminal law for the state of: Hello, I just met with my hearing officer. She told me that I would have to go to court in order to get misdemeanor off my record, since the county I live in wouldn't let her just take it off my record. The misdemeanor is possession of marijuana in a motorized vehicle. Before this citation, my record was clean. I have a court hearing coming up, and I was wondering if an attorney is necessary in order to get conditional discharge or stay of adjudication. I was hoping I could represent myself, since I do not have the funds for a private attorney. Since I am a college student, I am sure they are going to look at my parent's income. Therefore, I probably won't qualify for a Public Defender.
