Custody and Visitation Issues: Convenience

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Maryland

I have been divorced for three years and share joint custody of the children, receive some child support and there is no parenting plan. The children are with their father from Thursday eve to Monday morning. Initially the children attended aftercare and their father stated that he would help with pickup...as time passed there were numerous excuses which left me scrambling to pick them up or arranging for a neighbor to pick them up. In addition he agreed to take the kids to their extra-curricular activities every other week, which he didn't stick with. Therefore, I took the kids out of aftercare and hired a nanny for a couple of years. The kids are now able to stay home alone for a few hours alone after school, therefore a nanny is not needed. However, their father is insisting that I provide childcare because he is not able to pick them up from school or find child care on his 4 days a month. Am I responsible for providing care on his days?
