My question involves an eviction in the state of: Oregon
Hi, I would appreciate any advice on my situation. I am a single 29 year old women living in an 2 bedroom apartment alone for 3 years on a month to month lease. I pay my rent on time, work two steady jobs, and have never once had a problem with my rental agency at all. I recently fell into financial hardship and instead of going through my landlord for a potential roommate to help with the payments, I reluctantly let a friend of a friend move in who is not on the lease. He is a 25 year old male. It has now been three months of him living with me and everything has turned upside down over the last month - he started having parties, people over nonstop in and out making so much noise, drug use, late night drinking binges, loud music, messy, and to boot I am pretty sure his girlfriend has moved in too as she has been over every day now for a month. (and of course his behavior is the total opposite of my lifestyle - I am clean, quiet, and keep to myself, no drugs).
I am typically soft-spoken and non-confrontational, but I have had enough of this person! More than enough. I want this horrible person out of my once happy home and out of my life completely, but am not sure what action to take as we had only a verbal agreement. I have asked him to stop his activities countless times, which once resulted in a heated argument, but nothing works. I am also afraid of telling my current landlord as he is not on the lease - and I cannot move because of my job, nor cope with an eviction caused by someone else's reckless behavior. I can also not afford the loss of my down payment made three years ago.
My only action so far is that I told him 10 days ago that he had 30 days to move out because it was not working out at all, and he obliged to move. However, he has continued on with his partying since then and it is getting worse to the point I am afraid a neighbor may call in for noise violations. I am now also horribly afraid he will not abide by our agreement we made 10 days ago when the 30 days is up.
Please, help with any advice at all.
