Traffic Lane Violations: Driving to Left of Double Yellow Line at Intersection

mardi 2 septembre 2014

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California

Today I received an infraction for passing left over a double yellow line at an intersection. The code and description are "21460 (a) v.c. drive to left of solid double yellow."

I had read this on the DMV website:

If double parallel solid yellow lines are in place, a person driving a vehicle shall not drive to the left of the lines, except as permitted in this section.

(d) The markings as specified in subdivision (a), (b), or (c) do not prohibit a driver from crossing the marking if (1) turning to the left at an intersection or into or out of a driveway or private road.

Here is a photo from Google Maps of the approximate location my two left tires had passed the line, where I was behind a few stopped cars and the left turn lane was mostly empty. I could have been a little closer, I don't remember. He also wrote that I was doing approximately 10-15 mph but I think it would have been 10 at most. Is this fightable in court? I want to see if I can beat this, because I hear this is a very common ticket in CA. Also, he didn't write how much it would cost.
