My question involves juvenile law in the State of: Santa Clara County
Hi, I'm a 16 year old currently living in Santa Clara County. I have mental issues that make it hard for me to function in certain situations (emotional). I have a boyfriend who lives in Davis. I want to move in with him due to the poor state of my current household. I live with my mom and my step-dad, who seem not to have my best interests in mind. They are recovering addicts and have not used in 14 years. My dad is out of the picture, he is homeless and uses drugs. I cannot move in with him because of this, as well as the fact that he is not financially secure and used to abuse his girlfriend, which makes me uncomfortable.
I want to become emancipated. My boyfriend moved into his new Davis house on June 23, and due to how often I visit I am going to put this down as my current residence - is this okay?
My parents do not agree with my emancipation. My step-dad has a past felony for illegal manufacturing and sales of firearms. They currently have a revolver and a .22 calliber Semi-Auto Rifle in the closet illegally. Could I use this in my case, or should I just tell the police? I do not want to tell the police and have my step-dad go to prison, and have my mom know that it was me who told the police. I do not want to ruin their lives.
I do online school, and so my education is taken care of.
Though my boyfriend can financially support me, I am housekeeping in the house he lives in with 5 other roomates for rent and food money. Does this count as a financially stable job?
What do you think will happen? They do not consent to my emancipation because they do not want me to go down the same road they did and think I have more to learn in the next year.
