Hit-and-Run Accidents: Finding a Hit and Run Driver

samedi 4 octobre 2014

My question involves a traffic accident in the State of:CA

While parked diagonally in front of a restaurant, according to a witness, the car parked next to me hit my truck while backing out of his space. He drove away.

A witness provided the color, make & model of the car to police.

A server said the customer/driver paid his bill with a debit card. She gave the police his name and debit card info.

The police officer told me that the restaurant only had the last 4 digits of the card number and acted as though he couldn't trace him that way.

He said the man's name was a common name, although, he was given first, middle and last names.

He also said, depending on how much my deductible is, I should go to a body shop and see what the repair would cost, first and perhaps not report it to my insurance.

Is this sound advice?

Do the police have enough info to track down this driver?
