My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: Florida.
I recieved a notice in the mail that my FL driver license will be suspended effective October 20 for 18 points in 18 months. These points were accumulated solely in 2012 and 2013.
I very recently moved to New Mexico. I noticed that they're point system is different than that of FL. They erase points after 12 months. Since my newest ticket is over 12 months old, I'm wondering if the New Mexico laws will play in my favor.
My questions is, will New Mexico grant me a driver license before October 20, since my FL license will technically still be valid up to that date? If so, will they assess any sort of suspension? I'm vaguely familiar with the National Driver Compact. Seems like my upcoming FL suspension might already be noted on the national database, and that if might prevent me from getting a New Mexico License. I can prove residence in either state right now, any input as to what would be in my best interest? FL suspension is for 3 months. Anyone know if I can recieve a Fl hardship license without physically going back to FL?
Thanks in advance for your input!
