My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: California
A month ago I was approached by a coworker claiming that I had hit her car one day before in the parking lot. I did not recall doing this and my car showed no damages. Since my company has assigned parking spaces and mine is next to hers, her logic is that she saw the new damage when she went home the day before, then I must have hit her car.
When I refused to admit involvement because I don't think I hit her, she got very upset, so I gave her my insurance information, thinking they'll probably tell her to pound sand or something and kinda forgot about it.
Today I got a call from my insurance company, and it seems like the implication was I admitted involvement by giving her my insurance information? Is that right? As far as I know she has no other evidence of me hitting her.
Also, kind of jumping the gun here, if my insurance denies it and she decides to sue me for it, do I need to go to court? Could I ask for a pretrial dismissal if insurance finds in my favor? I'd rather not waste a vacation day over this.
Thanks for your help.
