My question involves child support in the State of: Florida and Georgia.
Hello,
My husband just had a paternity test confirm that he has a child of 1 year and 3 months in the state of Georgia (baby lives with mother). My husband lives in Tampa, Florida. He is getting out of the active duty army on March 2015 and joining the reserves. He plans on starting school with his GI Bill and getting a part time job while in school.
My questions is this: should he get an attorney to determine how much child support to give her? My husband does not have money in the bank and he does not own anything. He needs to determine how much to give this woman a month and does not know what step is best to take from a legal standpoint. The mother of the child seems to be cooperating and only wants her check every month. Any ideas on how to calculate this? Or is getting an attorney the best thing? And if so would it be an attorney in Georgia or Florida? Would she need an attorney as well? What is the cost for this? Would he have to pay her attorney fees? Sorry to bombard with questions we are just so confused as to what to do next.
