Custody and Visitation Issues: Non-Custodial Parent Moved Out of State

dimanche 14 décembre 2014

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Missouri

My daughter is only 6 months old right now and her father and I split up about 2-3 weeks ago after a 5 year relationship (never married thank god). The day after I broke up with him he moved to Nebraska to live with his grandparents, leaving his job and his baby behind. He told me over Facebook that the custody arrangement he wants is to take her in the summer and then I can have her the rest of the year. There is no WAY I would send my infant to Nebraska for the summer, especially if he's not planning to see her any time before that-he'll be a total stranger to her, and he is already clueless as to how to care for any age child. I do not think he will be paying me anything in child support and I honestly think he will also come up with an excuse not to see her even when it's time for his visitation, even if I DID agree to what he said he wwanted. My question is: since she is so little, and since he is so uninterested in her (even before we split up, it was an uphill battle to even get him to hold her or feed her), what would be the best option with regards to visitation? What kind of arrangement should I ask for? I'm not comfortable with him having overnight, or even solitary visitation with her, but I don't know how supervised visitation out of state would work.
