Driver's License Issues: Provisional License Violation

dimanche 21 décembre 2014

My question involves a driver's license issued by the State of: California.

So last night, a friend and I were driving home from Palmdale going back to Glendale. To avoid traffic, we cut through a highway that goes through a forest, notorious for people doing stupid stuff with their cars. We heard rattling noises coming from the exhaust so we pulled over to a shoulder but we were still sort of in the middle of the lane. We didn't think it was too bad because the roads were completely empty. Anyways, my friend was driving because I'm on my provisional, but it was my car. When we pulled over, he told me to rev the car so that he can see where the rattling is coming from, so I get into the driver's seat and he puts his flashlight on to check. That's when a park ranger came storming at us. Eventually he gives me a ticket for "violating" my provisional, which I'm pretty sure I didn't because when he approached us, I was in the car ALONE and my friend was outside the vehicle. I was wondering how much of a chance I have to win if I contest it in court, and if I lose, what penalties can I get for violating my provisional.
