My question involves child support in the State of:
What can I do regarding my child's parent not paying child support nor medical expenses as court ordered? [In the state of Texas]
My former spouse lied about how much money he makes, and has only been paying $100/month, although he is well off and the amount of child support should reflect his income. He is also obligated to pay half of my children's health expenses. One of my children has already turned 18, is there any way to reimburse that money? However, my other child is 17, has not had a single penny paid for hospitalization, surgeries, braces, doctors visits, etc. and is still receiving the $100/month. We tried to contact her father, he ignored all of our calls due to seeing our area code, but my daughter got ahold of him from a temp number with his area code, in which he said he was not paying because we didn't visit him (note that we live a 17 hour drive away and visited this summer, although he has not called or visited or even wanted anything to do with my children in about 10 years), said he was busy and hung up midway through my sentence.
I want to avoid having to make the 17 hour drive multiple times to see a lawyer and arrange for a court hearing, but if there is no way to do so, I want to make the most of it as I can. If there's any way I can find a legal obligation for him to pay reimbursted child support for the years that he neglected to inform anyone that his salary was increased, reimburst the money for my children's (or only child's) medical expenses, and something involving abandonment, that'd be great. He has not called, nor shown interest or reason in not contacting his children nor me, since our divorce 10 years ago and expects to avoid child support by claiming that my children do not contact him, after he changed his phone number and did not tell us his address to even visit him.
