My question involves defamation in the state of: Michigan and New York
My father used to molest me as a child and he got away with it because I never told anyone. Him and my mother split when I was 7 and he wasn't in my life for many years after that. He contacted me for the first time since then months ago right after my mothers death when I was very vulnerable and even had me talk to his new wife (they had just gotten married a few months prior) on the phone, she knows I am his daughter. I have nothing further to do with him now. However, I am worried his wife might have granddaughters around the age I was when it happened. I would like to write a letter to his wife telling her about the molestation. I have a letter he sent me before signed dad in which he is saying he's sorry for everything. but nothing even close to a confession on the molestation, it seemed to be more so acknowledgment of his absentee status as a father. He has unfortunately never been convicted of any child molestation charges.
He lives in New York State and I live in Michigan. I just want to know if legally I can get into any trouble for this since I cannot prove anything. If it makes any difference, I do have old pictures and a letter signed dad from him so I think I could prove he was in my life back then, but the molestation I have no way to prove.
