My question involves personal property located in the State of: PA
Hi everyone. Hoping someone can provide some clarification or confirmation for me. I want to ensure that there are no legal issues between myself and my wife as it relates to our handguns at home.
In PA, when you purchase a handgun, you must undergo a PICS (PA Instant Criminal Check System) before the buyer is approved for purchase. While PA does not have a specific owner registry, the law reads that an individual with a valid LTCF (License to Carry Firearm) can "loan" their firearm to another individual, who also has a LTCF.
My specific concern is this - we have several handguns in our home. I purchased 2, several were inherited when my Dad passed, etc. As I understand it, because both of us have a valid LTCF, either of us can be in possession or carrying ANY of the handguns, under the "loan" provision.
My final question is can a spouse, purchase a handgun and personally undergo a PICS check, and then gift that handgun to their spouse? If not, is there a legal definition for the timeframe for a "loan"? In otherwords, I, after purchasing a handgun, could "loan" it indefinitely to my wife for her use?
