Boundary Agreements: Neighbor Says My Friend Was Parked on Private Property

My question involves real estate located in the State of: NY (brooklyn)

I'm renting a room in a house in brooklyn (NY). We have a shared driveway with an adjacent house (we each have our own garage in the back, and side doors leading to the driveway. Nobody in my house owns a car, but our neighbors do and park on the driveway. My landlord occasionally stops by (she doesn't live here) and she parks on the driveway. The other night a friend of mine parked on the driveway to come in and use the restroom, but within minutes my neighbor arrived and started harassing her, telling her that she is on private property. I mentioned we can use it, in fact our landlord parks here all the time, and the neighbor said "well, she's the owner. That's not part of the lease." (which is completely made up). This does irk me because I do own a car (I keep back with my parents), I don't want to bring it here because of all the driveway nonsense (getting 3 cars to leave to move my car).

I don't anticipate using the driveway much (but I should have access to it). Can I write a cease and desist letter letting them know I do have access to the driveway, I may let guests park there as they do (providing the car is moved as necessary)? I don't particularly enjoy getting trampled over and I should have access to the driveway without getting yelled at for trespassing.
