My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: NY
I have two money judgements. First for money due to me on sale of Marital Residence, second for legal fees associated for filing judgement. After obtaining the judgements, the Defendant proceeded to claim bankruptcy. The judgements were considered child support by the Bankruptcy court so they could not be dismissed in Bankruptcy. My question is two fold: 1) Since the Bankruptcy court considered the judgements "child support", does this mean the judgements do not have a Statute of Limitation on collection? 2) If there is a Statute of Limitation, what would it be on a money judgement?
