Foreclosure: Promissory Note Secured by a Deed of Trust Fails to Receive the Payments

Hi,

I've been holding a promissory note secured by "a deed of trust". But lately the borrower is in default, failing to pay me the monthly payments since November 2014, what should I do now ?

My question :

1.- Could I do by myself to force the legal procedure to have my money back, if yes, please advice me step by step.

2.- OR I have to hire a lawyer ?

I'd like to do by myself save some money instead of hiring a lawyer.
