My question involves child support in the State of: Minnesota
Can my child receive children's benefits from social security even if their dad has not been approved/or has not filed for benefits?
My local child support office says that my child's dad has to be approved for social security benefits first before I can get child support..
I do not believe this because it will put my child at High risk for poverty.
Me, on the other hand I receive disability benefits, but I already know my child won't receive enough off my record due to my low work credits.
My child's dad has alot of past work credits by the way and is not working and I don't know if he will ever go to work.
If what the child support office says is true...
Can I get a state or federal court order to get the social security administration to pay my child the children's benefits based on my child's dad work credits?
