Debt Collectors: Aarons

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Texas

My husband and I got some furniture from Aarons in October 2013. My husband lost his job before the end of the month. I knew that we would not have the money for the payment before it was due and we were moving over 300 miles away. I called them the day before and the day we moved requesting that the furniture be picked up. I was informed that they could not pick it up and to see if we could leave it in the house and the landlord let them in to pick it up at a later date. The landlord said that if we left it he would keep it and not release it. So we took it with us and gave Aarons the location of where the furniture would be at. They never came and picked it up. We ended up moving to Oklahoma and I again called and gave the new address of where the furniture could be picked up at. They never picked it up. I received a call today from a mediation lawyer stating that felony charges would be filed on me and that my license was already suspended. That unless I came up with 2600 by Monday or paid off the full balance of 4500 within 6 months then they would precede with the felony charges. My question is what are my options? I am not trying to get out of paying for the stuff and have never tried to keep the stuff from them. I just know that I don't want this on my record but don't have that kind of money.
