My question involves a child custody case from the State of: Colorado
My step-children's mother passed away nearly 2 years ago. We live in Colorado, their bio moms parents live in Florida. Can the grand parents have court ordered visitation allowing them to take the children to Florida? My husband (the children's bio dad) and I would prefer them not to visit them at all, but if we were forced too we would prefer them to only visit our children in Colorado as we do not trust them to communicate with us and follow our wishes if an emergency occurred and if our children needed medical assistance. They have been elusive and very hostile to us when we have any communications as to the children and their rights pertaining to their mother's will. They have told me (step-mom) that these children are none of my concern and that is most definitely not the case. I love them both dearly and want what is best for them. My husband and I would prefer for the grandparents to visit our children here in Colorado so that we do not have to sign over medical power of attorney to the grandparents while they are in their care. Is that a good enough compromise and does that qualify as offering visitation? FYI...During my husband's divorce to their mother, these grandparents plotted to bring the children to Florida in the middle of the night with their mother on their uncles private jet. They are not trust worthy people but my children love them.
