Probation and Parole: Probation Left State Without Permission

jeudi 8 janvier 2015

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Colorado

This is my first time I've ever been into trouble. I stole some checks from my boss and tried using one. I got caught and was arrested. I took a plea of a deferred judgment sentence and was sentenced to pay fees and three years of probation. The county that I was arrested in is not the county where I lived so it was transferred to the county where I was living. This process usually takes three weeks. I am originally from California and came to Colorado with my now ex husband. Shortly after being released from jail my husband and I got in a huge fight which became physical. I finally got tired of the physical and mental abuse and decided I needed to get me and my two kids away from the situation so I left and went back to California and am now living with my mother. This move of mine happened before I met with my new probation officer in the county where I was living. He has no idea I'm here in California and he called me for my first appointment. I'm suppose to meet with him on Tuesday which is in about five days. I don't know what to do. I know I wasn't suppose to leave the state but I had no other choice. I can't go back to jail because I need to take care of my kids but I don't know if I can make it back by Tuesday and I don't know where I would stay.

Should I tell him my situation and see if he understands? Should I not go to the appointment and if I don't will a warrant be issued and if so will they come look for me in California? Could an attorney help me to change my probation to California without me having to go back to Colorado or be arrested? I just need some advice and some options please. Thank you
