My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Washington
I was at a complete stop in the dedicated right turn lane with a red (ball) light. When I stopped, I paused for several seconds unnecessarily. I heard a 'woop' directly behind me, then made a correct right turn on the red. The woop turned out to be an unmarked police car that signaled me to pull over. The officer told me I had two strikes against me; not making the right turn and not using my turn signal.
The police officer did not issue a ticket.
My question: I understand that not using the appropriate signal was technically an offense, however are you required to turn right on a red light, (from a dedicated turn lane), if the way is clear?
Thank you!
