My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Virginia. I am being sued by a lawyer representing the hospital. I can not afford to pay I know that is not a defense and I know I owe the bill. I live well below poverty last year my household income was $3800. I am being sued in a county I do not live in and it's not the county where I signed the papers according to the fair debt collection practices act you can only be sued in the county you live or the county the contract was signed in, in my case it's the same county but I'm being sued another county. The court notice was mailed and left posted at a vacant house which belonged to my mother she has passed away and the house has been vacant for over a year. Should I go to court and request a change of venue or not show up allow them to get judgement and then sue them for violating the fair debt collection practices act?
