My question involves restraining orders in the State of: Louisiana
Hello, I'm in an odd situation. I'm sorry it's so wordy:
I'm a male (19 years old), and I've known my best friend (Female, 17, 26 months younger) for slightly over a year.
She used to live with her Mom in the same state as me (LA), but they had a difficult relationship (for example, her mother said she wanted to perform and exorcism on her); so she moved in with her divorced father in Mississippi a few months ago.
Her parents are both very protective of her because she has a bad past. She currently has access to her land line phone and laptop.
Recently, she went to visit her mother. Her mother decided to take her laptop and read her old messages. One of them included me saying "Sorry, I'm high." I didn't mention any substances or actions performed.
Her mother messaged me saying (paraphrasing): "I know a detective that I will report you to if you contact my daughter ever again."
I asked why. She told responded, "You're 19. You did drugs."
I go to college, people tend to drink alcohol and smoke pot; this is not my lifestyle. My goal is to be successful, and I live for my family. I do not promote / condone drug use. I would never want to negatively influence my best friend in any way and only wish for her well being. I do not discuss illegal activities with her daughter, and I have never insinuated that I wish to have sexual relations with her.
Is there any way in hell that this mother could successfully get a restraining order against me or whatever threat she was implying a detective could carryout?
My question isn't whether or not I should stay away from her, what the moral / smart thing to do it, my question is whether or not legal action can be taken against me based off of this information and assuming I left out no other possible issues.
Thank you very much for reading.. This means the world to me.
*Edit* I do not plan on visiting the daughter again until she turns 18 and moves in with her grandmother. Her father is not bothered by me talking to her, but he does not allow her to hangout with males.
