Guardianship: Paternal Grandparents Filed for Guardianship

samedi 21 février 2015

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: New Mexico, I am living in Virginia, my son has been stolen by grandparents in New Mexico, child's father is in New Mexico.

I have had a petition for custody filed against me by the paternal grandparents of my son, along with a letter from the father of my son, giving his permission for his parents (my son's paternal grandparents) to have custody of my son. The petition states I am unwilling and unable to take custody of my child. This is untrue. In truth, they have stolen my child, refuse contact with me, and have severed my ability to have a relationship with my son. They also lied on the filing and claimed they didn't know how or where to contact me.

My son was staying with them a short time when they asked if he could stay through Christmas 2014, to which I agreed, but have since blocked all contact with my son.

I have read that I may be eligible to receive a state appointed attorney to fight this action in court. The case which makes me believe I may be eligible is: http://ift.tt/1z7DeUR.

How do I go about requesting assistance?

I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter.
