Other Violations: Ticket for Inappropriate Stopping

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: Georgia

6 years ago I was in a traffic accident. I had my driver's license for approximately a year, and I was driving in a back road area I wasn't too familiar with. I was fairly sure I knew the name of a road on the left I was supposed to turn on to, but I mistakenly passed by it and didn't realize it was the road I was supposed to turn onto until I was a few feet beyond it. I panicked and instinctively slammed on my brakes (which was a stupid thing to do), and then I was hit by a truck that was behind me.

I received a traffic ticket for "inappropriate stopping". If I remember correctly, it was a $200 dollar ticket.

Later, when I read the Accident report, it didn't mention "inappropriate stopping" but "inappropriate turning".

I really didn't want to get involved with anything at the time, so I just paid the fine.

Years later, I'm now curious: is "inappropriate stopping" an actual thing? Should I have fought this? or was this officer correct?
