My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: NEW YORK
My mother passed away and as the beneficiary of her estate, I inherited her car with value of about $5,000. I wish to keep the car but need to transfer the title/registration from her name to mine. I am getting different answers from the DMV in NY regarding what forms, letter of testamentary, surrendering plates, etc. The online site for NY's DMV is also giving me different instructions. Can anyone who has gone through this please advise me? Thanks so much.
