My question involves criminal law for the state of: Kentucky
I shoplifted a rather large and fairly expensive ($160) item from a local retail store. I was not stopped by LP, there weren't any employees that witnessed the act either. I essentially got away. My concious has overcame me and this morning I visited the store to speak with a manager and pay for the item. I explained to the manager what happened and they understood and thanked me for coming forward. I payed for the item and was given a sales receipt.
Will there be any legal repercussions of what happened? I understand I broke the law by shoplifting, and I understand people here cannot forsee the future. However, will my actions of coming forward and paying for the item I lifted fall of deaf ears as it's already happened? Or has the cake already been baked?
