My question involves business law in the state of Oregon. Employee in medical office writes an educational newsletter sent to Dermatologists in Oregon about melanoma in redheads. She uses a portion of a pic downloaded off the internet of red hair copied from a news article not recognizing a very tiny symbol in the pic corner as a copyright symbol. Newsletter sent out, then changed for patient education and placed on our website. Internet company sends letter demanding $700, threatening legal action for using their pic without licence. Copyright law section 107 excludes infringement when pics are used strictly for education, as this was. Shall I tell them to go away, pay the $700, or call our attorney. f: Oregon
