My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: New York
I was trying to merge into the right turning lane. There was a box truck that was pulled over in the right lane, so I tried to merge in front of it (thinking that there couldn't be any cars in front of it since it was blocking the lane.) I guess there must've been a driveway in front of the truck because another car was in that lane that I didn't see, so I accidentally cut him off. When we got to the stop light in front of us, he scream something out of his window (I don't know what he said), drove behind me for a couple of more feet, and then turned into a parking lot. At first I assumed he was mad for me cutting him off, but now I wonder if I may have scuffed his car? If I did hit him, and he calls the police, would me not knowing be enough to defend against a potential hit-and-run charge? I'm 19, and I have never been in an accident before.
